City hospitality star joins The Salt Room


This month sees Olivia Reid join the expanding restaurant group The Coal Shed and The Salt Room taking the position of General Manager at The Salt Room on Kings Road, Brighton.

Olivia previously worked at Brighton’s Terre à Terre as Marketing and Events Manager, and then Commercial Manager, with responsibility for revenue development alongside delivering Terre à Terre’s renowned excellent service standard and customer engagement. Through roles including vice-chair of the city’s Tourism Advisory Board, she’s been integral to Brighton’s food and drink development for over a decade.

In recent years, she has received both ‘outstanding recognition’ at the Brighton and Hove Food & Drink awards and the Brighton & Hove Mayor’s Tourism & Hospitality Special Recognition Award 2017.

July celebrates six years from the date Raz Helalat, owner of the group received the keys to his first premises, The Coal Shed, rapidly followed with The Salt Room on Brighton seafront. Autumn 2017 sees The Coal Shed open in London as part of the One Tower Bridge development.

These are clearly hugely exciting times for the group keen to bring the restaurant’s approach to cooking the finest steak and seafood to an expanding audience. All the more reason to recruit Olivia: an effective leader, a team manager with wide knowledge and passion for the food and drinks sector alongside local tourism and culture, to run The Salt Room, described by Jay Rayner as – ‘a serious restaurant with a happy, relaxed atmosphere – the perfect fit for the location’.

Olivia’s understanding of the city and what its audience needs, combined with her eye for detail, will be a perfect fit into an already celebrated team including head Chef Dave Mothersill.
